故事梗概：

　“天龙八部这八种神道精怪，各有奇特个性和神通，虽是人间之外的众生，却也有尘世的欢喜和悲苦。这部小说里没有神道精怪，只是借用这个佛经名词，以象征一些现世人物。”

　　北宋年间，外族纷纷觊觎大宋国土，形成宋、辽、西夏对立的局面。武林各派或效忠于本国，或相助于他族，一时间风云际会，英雄辈出。
武林第一大帮丐帮帮主乔峰，公正豪迈，威名远扬，人称之为武林霸主“北乔峰”。
段誉之父是风流潇洒、处处留情的大理镇南王段正淳，而段誉也继承了父亲多情的性格，但他为人豁达开朗，对貌若天仙的王语嫣一见倾心。
　　天性纯良，宅心仁厚的虚竹，本是少林寺普普通通的小沙弥。乔峰、段誉和虚竹在风云际会中相识、相知、相异、相助，同时围绕在他们父辈之间的恩怨情仇以及他们与红颜知已的爱恨分离，形成了《天龙八部》的主要情节。乔峰一生行侠仗义，正气在胸，但因为契丹人的身世，不能相容于天地之间，最后断箭插胸自尽，所有江湖恩怨都灰飞烟灭；段誉多情可爱，一生与世无争，视富贵如浮云，只是痴恋王语嫣，最后痴情动天，终得美人芳心；虚竹身世凄凉，人又愚钝痴傻，只是他从小生长于少林，自是宅心仁厚，福泽非浅；康敏是剧中最为人厌恶的角色，这个视美为全部生命的女子，恰恰未能领悟美的真谛，因为别人无视她的“美丽”而恼羞成怒，无故生出许多事端，结果害人害己；慕容复一生为“复国大计”所累，机关算尽，最后众叛亲离，自己也落得个精神失常的惨淡收场。至于剧中其它一些角色，象“四大恶人”、段正淳、阿朱、阿紫、天山童姥等人物也是让人或痛恨或爱怜或同情或惋惜。一部巨著，让人滋生出许多的感情和感慨，自有其动人之处。而贯穿全剧的江湖上的腥风血雨、国家与民族的大义情操、壮士英雄的豪情壮志，也尽在《天龙八部》一剧中熔于一炉，使人看后热血沸腾、回味无穷！

Explanation for Fiction Name by Jing Yong

In the reigning period of North Song Dynasty, border nations coveted the country one after another. The tripartite confrontation of three countries-Song, Liao and West Xia came forth. The masters in wushu circles either gave allegiance to their governments or helped other nations for shelter. In this time of war, heroes came forth in great number.

The leader of Beggar Faction-the largest faction in wushu circles-Qiao Feng was a fair-minded, heroic and prestigious person so that he was called North Qiao Feng-the north hegemon of wushu circles.

Duan Yu's father was Duan Zhenchun-the Zhen Nan Magnate of Da Li. This swellish and romantic man entailed his son the character of romance. Duan Yu was more magnanimous than his father. He fell in love with an extremely beautiful girl Wang Yuyan.

Formerly Xu Zhu was a kind-hearted and ordinary monk of Shao Lin Temple.

Qiao Feng, Duan Yu and Xu Zhu met, knew and helped each other well during this period.The plot Introduction of Heaven Dragon-The Eighth Episode was made up of the kind and enmity of their fathers as well as their love stories. Qiao Feng acted from sense of justice all his life, however his parentage of Qidan race made him forced to kill himself. Duan Yu was very emotional. He stood aloof from the worldly affairs and underestimated riches and honors. He infatuated Wang Yuyan and finally gained her true love. Xu Zhu had a miserable parentage and was thickheaded, but his kind-heart and clemency made him always had a good luck. Kang Min was the most repugnant role in this story. She looked upon beauty as her whole life, whereas she didn't understand the true meaning of beauty. She was ashamed into anger when the other people blinked her beautiful appearance so that she made so many troubles, but ultimately she caused trouble to herself. Murong Fu was pined by his plan for the restoration of a dethroned monarch. At last he was utterly isolated and became an anoia.Other roles such as Four Cacodaemons, Duan Zhenchun, A Zhu,A Zi, Tianshan Tong Lao etc. also aroused different feeling of abhorrence, adore,pity and regret of audience. This magnum opus of Jin Yong arose people various kinds of sensation and the sigh with emotion. Nevertheless, the kind and enmity in wushu circles, the sentiment of heroes for country and nation introjected in this story brought people an endless aftertaste.
